Marissa

Marissa has been hooked on Mustangs ever since she was 12yrs old when she competed in her very first Mustang 100 DayTIP Challenge at the “Mustang Yearlings Washington Youth” (MYWY) competition with “Stardust,” a white BLM Mustang from the WarmSprings HMA in Oregon, winning 3rd in the Youth Division.
- In 2021, She competed in-hand with a brown yearling filly named “Elsie” from the Paisley Desert HMA in Oregon, winning 3rd at MYWY.
- In 2022, she competed in the Riding Division at MYWY with another brown mare named “Freesia” from the Paisley Desert HMA in Oregon, winning 2nd place.
Marissa has had a special interest in trick training, bridle-less riding and working at liberty with her Mustangs, and dreams of having an all-Mustang liberty team one day. Marissa’s riding aspirations are to compete at a high level in 3 day eventing…but on a Mustang. Currently, she has two “sport-type” Mustangs, “Stardust” and “Freesia,” that she is developing for eventing and plans to start hitting the show arena this summer. Marissa has also halter broke, started under saddle and re-trained many different breeds of horses and ponies including OTTBs and is always game for a challenge. Marissa’s ideal horse is a spicy, brown, mare which pretty much sums up the type of person Marissa is …in that she finds the positives and sees the potential in very spirited, difficult horses full of attitude and personality that most people would pass on and is willing to put the time in to make them great.

Sierra loves the process of developing a young horse and building a solid foundation. When not on a horse, Sierra is either working on the family farm, uploading new content to social media or making a to-do list of everything that needs to be done.

Eliza is the youngest of the family but don’t let her age fool you- she already is a very active horse girl. From training wild Mustangs to jumping at Pony Club, Eliza is always ready to tackle a new challenge!

- She is currently training a flashy pinto gelding for the TAOM Showdown on March 24-26, 2023

Josh And Erika founded Steffen Stampede as a hay farming, horse boarding and horse training business in the early 2000s. Erika had a special love for liberty training and English riding while Josh was an epic “Ride and Tie” competitor. Fast forward 20 some years and they are passing on there knowledge and skills to their 3 daughters (listed above). Now Erika is found coaching and instructing her daughters and makes sure the girls are doing everything correct and is still very much head coach, barn manager and horse trainer. Josh is still producing hay and loves galloping down trails. He is also a top notch horse trailer hauler, show dad and fence builder.
